Download the following three files: PC36IMG.zip EVO-recovery.zip 'Rooted' HTC Evo ROM 1. Connect your HTC Evo 4G as a 'disk drive' to your computer and copy PC36IMG.zip into the root directory of your SD card. HTC EVO 4G was the smartphone launched in the year 2010 running on the Sprint’s WiMAX Network to provide ultra-fast speed to its users. The smartphone was among those initial devices which were running on the 4G network and still the phone is considered to be the best for the 4G connectivity. I have to go about doing it using a different method. When I get to the part after it looks for the PC36IMG.zip and I press down it asks me to reboot, I say no and it takes me to Bootloader, recovery, clear storage, & Hboot. The Great EVO 4G. Carrier: Sprint = #1. Its much faster AND I have almost 175M free. What changed to.
Requirement: NAND unlock S-OFF (this allows for unsigned ROM)
Format: PC36IMG.ZIP
OS: 3.30.651.2 (2.6.32-15 Kernal)

Link: http://www.megafileupload.com/en/fil...36IMG-zip.html
How to install: Download the file from the link above and and rename it from [Megafileupload]PC36IMG.zip to PC36IMG.zip. Place the file 'PC36IMG.ZIP' file on the root of the SD-CARD. Power down the phone. Power up the phone while holding down the volume down button. The phone will prompt you to install a new rom, follow the prompts and reboot after flashing.
Purpose:
To create a current base rom to flash other roms without starting at the 1.47 PC36IMG.zip version.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage to your phone! Please do a nano backup prior to using this rom. This definately is a test rom, worked perfectly for myself, but not tested by anyone else. If you have any problems, boot into recovery and restore your nano backup.

How to Install Android SDK and ADB Drivers for HTC Evo 4G! Before you can begin hacking your HTC Evo 4G, you will first want to install the Android SDK and ADB drivers for HTC Evo 4G, so you have all the tools needed for hacking and also your computer recognizes your HTC Evo 4G correctly. So, let's get started, it's not that hard. First, download the appropriate Android SDK for your platform. (Windows, Mac, or Linux) Also, you will need Java running on your computer. If you don't have Java installed, go to Java.com and install the appropriate Java for your platform (not browser!). Once you've downloaded the Android SDK, unzip it into a directory you can remember such as c:SDK (for Windows). Run SDK Setup.exe (for Windows, others should be similar), and you will get an option to install the Android SDK.
Once the SDK Setup starts, select Available Packages and check off on the respository.xml and you should see a bunch of options to install. Select just 'SDK Platform for Android 2.1' and 'Usb Driver package' as seen here:

If you get an error message with something about HTTPS, you can check out 'Force https:// ... using http://' under Settings and try the above step again.
Once you've got the two stuff installed, you are almost done, just close the SDK Setup program. Next, we need to install ADB drivers so your computer can talk to your HTC Evo 4G.

How to Install ADB Drivers for HTC Evo 4G! (Windows Only) Before you can install ADB drivers, you need to put your HTC Evo 4G into 'recovery' mode, otherwise your computer won't recognize your phone as an 'ADB' device, which we want. *Note: I believe Mac users can actually skip this step, ADB drivers just work on the Macs. Not sure about linux, let me try it on my Ubuntu and will update this post later. So, first turn off your HTC Evo 4G then hit the power button WHILE holding down the volume down button, like this:
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
Wait for like 5 seconds, you should come to this menu:
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
Using the Volume buttons, select 'Recovery' then hit the power button.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
Shortly, you should see your HTC Evo 4G displaying something like this: (Congrats, you've just learned to put your HTC Evo 4G into 'recovery mode'.)
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
(Optional) There's another way to put it in ADB recovery mode using ADB command itself but my method is simpler and better, also works if you don't have it connected to your computer. Okay, now your HTC Evo 4G is in recovery mode, simply plug it to your computer via USB cable.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
For Windows, your computer should recognize it as an 'ADB device' like shown here: (Under Control Panel->Device Manager)
Double click on 'ADB' then click on 'Update Driver'.
Next, select 'Browse my computer for driver software'.
Next, choose 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.
Choose 'Mobile devices'.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
Choose 'Have Disk' and browse to the folder where you installed SDK, where the USB driver lies. (e.g. c:SDKusb_driver) You should be able to now have ADB installed. If you are using Windows 7 64-bit OS like me, try using these drivers here. *If you are having with 32-bit Windows drivers, try using these drivers here also. Great, if you've installed your ADB drivers correctly, we are ready to hack!
How to Root Your HTC Evo 4G!
If you want to get most of our your HTC Evo 4G, you will certainly want to 'root' it. By rooting your HTC Evo 4G, you have total 'control' over your phone plus, you will have the ability to install custom ROMs on your HTC Evo 4G. Since HTC Evo 4G just launched yesterday, there aren't any ROMs other the 'rooted' ROM to install but still, that gives you access to install many 'root' apps such as CPU control apps that can let you overclock your HTC Evo 4G. Anyways, you will want to follow these directions carefully.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
And don't worry, you won't brick your phone, I've done this hundreds of times on many Android phones and Android OS is pretty darn stable it's almost impossible to brick your HTC Evo 4G. (Yes, it's that good.) *Note - This is a guide for complete dummies, if you are an expert already, go root it already. So, let's begin.
How to Root Your HTC Evo 4G! Download the following three files: PC36IMG.zip EVO-recovery.zip 'Rooted' HTC Evo ROM 1. Congratulations! You've just 'rooted' your phone! 6. One more step, connect your HTC Evo 4G to your computer as 'disk drive' and rename the PC36IMG.zip to root-PC36IMG.zip. This is so your phone won't try to install that zip file again by accident when you start fastboot mode again.
Wait!!! But there's more, having a 'rooted' phone doesn't mean anything unless you have a 'rooted' ROMso, let's try now install the 'rooted' ROM.
How to Install Rooted ROM on your HTC Evo 4G! First, you will need to install Android SDK and ADB drivers so your can backup your stock Android OS (you never know when you need it again) and also to install the new 'rooted' ROM. Download this 'rooted' ROM zip file and copy over into the root directory of your HTC Evo 4G's SD card. (like we did with other files earlier) 1. Follow these steps on install Android SDK and ADB drivers then come back to the next step! 2. Once your phone is in 'recovery' mode and your phone is recognized by your computer, unzip the EVO-recovery.zipinto a directory.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
3. Open up a command prompt, go to the directory where you unzipped the files. 4. Then from there, run 'recovery-windows.bat' for Windows, 'recovery-mac.sh' for Mac, 'recovery-linux.sh' for Linux.
5. If you don't get any errors then you should see something like the following:
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
6. Once you get to this step, your HTC Evo 4G should have entered into the 'new' recovery mode.
. 7. You should see a menu like this on your HTC Evo 4G now:
(Optional) How to Backup Your Stock Android System! Just in case you might want to restore to the stock Android system, follow these steps so you can backup your current 'stock' Android system before installing the 'rooted' Android system. 8. Select the 'Nand backup' using the volume buttons then hit the power button.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
9. Hit the power button again and your HTC Evo 4G should start backing up.
10. Once it's complete, you should see the following screen. (Congratulations! Now you know how to back up existing ROMs on your HTC Evo 4G! This backup saves the whole 'machine' state of your phone.)
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
11. Next, let's return to the main menu by selecting 'Return' and hitting the power button.
How to Wipe your HTC Evo 4G! 12. You will need to complete 'wipe' your HTC Evo 4G before installing any new ROMs, so select 'Wipe' then hit the power button.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
13. Select 'Wipe data/factory reset' then hit the power button. Hit power button one more time.

14. Once that's done, select 'Wipe Dalvik-cache' and hit the power button. Hit power button one more time.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
15. Return to the main menu again and select 'Flash zip from sdcard' and hit the power button.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
16. Select 'Supersonic_1.32.651.1_rooted.zip' then hit the power button. Hit it again.
17. Once that's done, simply reboot your phone and voila, now you have completely freed your HTC Evo 4G with a 'rooted' ROM.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
18. Verify that you have installed the 'rooted' ROM by browsing the application menu and you should see an app called 'Superuser Permissions'. Congratulations, you've just rooted your phone and learned how to backup/install custom ROMs on your HTC Evo 4G. Tip: You can now install Custom ROM apps that will allow you to install new ROMs on the fly without going through all these tedious steps, go to the Android Market and search for 'ROM'. If this is the first time you are rooting your Android phone, try watching this video I made while I did 'rooted' my HTC Evo 4G. It's a bit confusing because I did it while rooting my phone for the first time but a lot of the steps can be more understandable before you begin the process of rooting your HTC Evo 4G: Click Here to See on YouTube Credits - Huge thanks to XDA Developers as always, without their guide, I wouldn't have been able to make this one.

You can press 'menu' to change your SSID, 128-bit WEP key, and also to restrict connections via MAC address. Also, when a device connects, your HTC Evo 4G should 'buzz' indicating a device connected.

I think at this point, Sprint needs to offer the HTC Evo 4G Mobile Hotspot for free instead of charging extra $30/month as users will eventually get around hacking it. Well, this is good news anyways, enjoy now and don't forget to subscribe to our blog for more cool HTC Evo 4G Hacks and tutorials! :)

It adds a nice tactile feel to the screen which is helpful when I am typing and helps keep the screen nice looking and clean. I recommend that you follow the instructions carefully and to the letter and you should have no problem installing the protector. It took all of 5 mins for me and I have never installed one before. HTC Evo 4G Charger! For those of you looking to get additional chargers for your HTC Evo 4G, you might want to learn that there’s 2 ways to charge your phone, by using a mini-USB charger of a USB charger couple with a mini-USB cable. (You can check our HTC Evo 4G USB Cable page to order additional mini USB cables, just $2 each!) For those of you who travel a lot, you might want to get the HTC Evo 4G USB charger but for those of you who want to also use it as a USB charger for all other USB gadgets you own, get the USB chargers. HTC Evo 4G mini-USB Chargers
My recommendation for best value and performance is this HTC Evo 4G mini-USB charger, which is actually made for Blackberries but it doesn’t matter as they charge any smartphones with mini-USB, just $4.50 on Amazon. I actually find these mini-USB chargers more convenient as they are all “connected”, better for traveling. You can also take a look here on Amazon for other mini-USB chargers if you don’t like the Blackberry one. Remember, you don’t have to pay over-marketed prices for the same miniUSB chargers! Here’s a USB charger I recommend for your HTC Evo 4G to be used along with a mini-USB cable, this one features enough power to charge your HTC Evo 4G, just $2.84 on Amazon. If you don’t like this style, you can try searching on Amazon here for another USB charger of your choice.
HTC Evo 4G Car Charger! Like regular HTC Evo 4G chargers, you have two choices of car chargers. You can just get the Mini USB car charger or a USB car charger coupled with a mini USB Cable. HTC Evo 4G Mini USB Car Charger

As HTC Evo 4G uses mini-USB, you can pretty much get any Mini USB car chargers. The one I recommend for best value/performance is this one for Blackberries, just $7 on Amazon.
HTC Evo 4G USB Car Charger
(Use with mini USB Cable) For those of you who want to charge other USB gadgets in your car such as an iPod, you can get a USB car charger and just hook up your mini USB cable to the HTC Evo 4G. I actually like these types of USB car chargers better over the mini-USB because you can usually leave the USB car charger in the cigarette slot and just stow away your mini USB cable when not in use.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
My recommendation for a USB car charger is the PowerJolt USB Car Charger, which comes with not one but “two” USB slots so you can charge two devices simultaneously, just $11.50 on Amazon. You can also get any of these USB car chargers on Amazon to re-charge your HTC Evo 4G while you drive in your car.
HTC Evo 4G Case! Having a beautiful HTC Evo 4G case not only accents your Evo but protects from accidental drops.
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
If you want a classic/stylish HTC Evo 4G case that will make you look good and protects your phone, try these Seidio Innocase II Surface Case for HTC EVO 4G, just $23 on Amazon and comes if many colors. Seidio HTC Evo 4G cases also come with a holster for additional $16, see here.
For best value and performance, I highly recommend these Amzer Silicon HTC Evo 4G cases, just$9.95 on Amazon. Great value and comes with many colors to choose from.

HTC Evo 4G HDMI Cable! Did you know your HTC Evo 4G is capable of being connected to your HDTV or LCD monitor via HDMI cable?
Copyright 2010 by Max Lee & HTCEvoHacks.com
Well, you gotta get the right one, don’t forget to get the correct one, it’s a “micro” HDMI to HDMI cable that you need. And yes, if you buy it from Amazon instead of Sprint Store or Radio Shack, you can get it for about 1/3 of the price.
We recommend these Amzer micro HDMI to HDMI cables, especially made for the HTC Evo 4G with gold plated inserts, just $10.95 on Amazon.
